Screening machines for nitrogen fertilizer

Due to the continuing growth of the world population, the demand for ammonium sulfate (AS), ammonium nitrate (AN), calcium nitrate (CN), potassium nitrate (KN), calcium ammonium nitrate (KAS) and urea is steadily increasing, while product quality requirements are becoming more demanding.

The desired end product for nitrogen-based fertilizers usually has a particle size between 2 mm and 5 mm. Since fertilizer producers mostly have a daily output of several hundred tons and a low tolerance for deviations, even small efficiency gaps in the screening process can mean major losses. In addition, any maintenance work that requires the machines to be shut down results in high avoidable costs. 

Sieving nitrogen fertilizers without lumps and dust

The challenging aspect of screening urea or other nitrogenous fertilizers is the hygroscopic nature of the material. The combination of ambient moisture with the dust and fines in the material creates agglomerates that adhere to the screen mesh and permanently close it, unless the screening machines have a well-functioning self-cleaning system.

The RHEsono® and RHEmoto® machines from RHEWUM GmbH are designed for this purpose and operate with high-frequency vibration directly on the screen cloth. Automatic cleaning pulses, which can achieve speeds of up to 50 g, are used to remove stuck particles from the machine's screen cloth during operation and keep it fully operational. The housing remains static and allows dust-tight operation with optional connection to a dedusting unit.

Even with a flat incline, the RHEsonox® can reliably separate fertilizer grains in the finest range and reliably remove dust via the combination of linear movement of the machine and direct excitation of the screen cloth. This advantageous drive combination enables even better separation results with sticky materials than a conventional vibrating screen.
