RHEWUM replaces conventional gyratory screen in Australia

To double the feed capacity of ammonium nitrate (AN) to 110 t/h (121 STPH) the actually installed flat screen of a competitor has to be replaced.

RHEWUM was chosen to achieve this high screening capacity within very limited space conditions. Therefore, a conventional flat screen was replaced by a high-performance stainless-steel screen of RHEWUM type RHEsono®(U) 350x269/450/2. Screen cuts to be realized are defined as 4.0 mm (0.157'' / approx. 5 mesh) and 1.0 mm (0.039'' / 18 mesh). The screen has to handle product temperatures up to 118 °C (244 °F). While the consulting, tendering and technical evaluation were arranged by WorleyParsons in Melbourne, Australia, the order processing is the responsibility of AECOM in Perth, Australia.

To fulfill the customer's high-quality demands, the bottom deck will be excited by the approved electro-magnetic drives RHEsono® while the upper deck will be driven by maintenance-free drives of type RHEmoto®. To cope with occupational safety directives, the screen will have noise protection devices.

One main reason to decide on a RHEWUM screen was, besides the design-based reliability due to the variety of drives, that one machine half can be stopped during production for maintenance purposes.
