YARA relies on individualized RHEWUM technology

Valentina Weber, RHEWUM GmbH

Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) is a popular nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture for plant nutrition. Due to the difficult screening characteristics of CAN, YARA in Rostock has again opted for RHEWUM technology to expand its capacity.

When increasing the capacity, our customer duplicated the existing screening line. In addition to the increase of capacity, this also results in increased availability. The new screens were modernized and modified together with the customer along with his accumulated experience and are thereby optimally adapted to the plant, which achieves a flow rate of up to 350 t/h (385 STPH). The construction of the plant will be realized in two stages. In the first stage, RHEduo® coarse screens with downstream RHEflex® are used (screen cut 5.0 mm/~4 mesh). RHEsono® fine screens (screen cut 3.2 mm/~ 6 mesh) remove the fine dust in the second stage.

Several special features of the machines were taken into account during the implementation of the project. Due to the abrasive and corrosive properties of calcium ammonium nitrate, appropriate material and wear protection were used for the complete plant during production. In order to be able to dose the screened product fractions flexibly, adjustable butterfly valves were installed in our directly excited WA screening machines. In addition, integrated level switches enable automatic monitoring and control of the plant.

By supplying the screening line as a complete package, which was adapted to the individual customer and the local conditions, YARA Rostock was able to implement his project with full success.
